The crew's quarters and the technical section

The crew`s quarters and technical section were located on the south side of the firing pit. This part of the bunker was sealed against gas and was entirely self-sufficient in terms of water and electricity. The crew`s quarters were placed along the external walls and provided bunks for the entire crew, some 90 men in all.

The innermost section of this part of the bunker contained the technical installations. The machine room contained two diesel motors, a small one (56 h.p.) for powering lights in the bunker, and a large one (200 h.p.) that generated electricity used in operating the gun. This part of the bunker also contained bathrooms, washrooms, toilets and a well. Finally, a boiler house that provided the entire bunker with heating in radiators was also located here.
