Ammunition bunker
Ammunition bunker for the 38 cm battery, built in 1941.
The bunker could house around 150 shots for the 38 cm gun. Shells and powder charges were stored in separate rooms.
The concrete gallows in front of the bunker is a portal crane, which was used for transferring ammunition from the lorries, which transported it to the battery. Within the battery ammunition was moved around with the help of the narrow gauge rail road, which connected the ammunition bunker with the gun bunkers.
Two bunkers of this type were constructed in Hanstholm.
The bunker is open, but remember to bring a torch.
