The press, along with the local underground press, helped spread the news and called for acts of sabotage. Some joined the resistance, while others collaborated with the occupying forces.
When liberation came, it was important to show that one had not been on the wrong side of history. There has been a tendency to view the history of the war in black-and-white terms, but there are many nuances and interesting stories that are still relevant today.
