Concert with Folkekons at Heltborg Museum

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Folkekons invites you to an evening filled with musical presence, tradition and renewal. Come and listen to students from Folkekons as they play traditional and newly written folk music and experience the meeting between the new music and the old cultural heritage.

The Folk Music Program at the South Danish Music Conservatory—commonly known as “Folkekons”—has, over the years, been a source of both preservation and innovation within Danish folk music. Folkekons is an institution dedicated to educating and inspiring the next generations of folk musicians. The program combines traditional elements with modern innovation to create a dynamic music scene that celebrates Denmark’s rich cultural heritage. The tour offers a unique opportunity to hear Denmark’s folk music students in the midst of the profound transformation that comes from studying this subject for 3–5 years. The concert program also reflects the program’s embrace of Danish folk music, as well as folk music from other parts of the world. All of this comes to life through a musical collaboration among 11 students, each at a different stage in their education and artistic development.

The program features old, traditional, reimagined, and well-known melodies, as well as newly composed material. The music has a unique sound! This is due both to the many different—and at times unconventional—instruments playing together, and to the camaraderie among people who want to share this fantastic genre of music with as many people as possible.

Museum Thy is hosting the event, while Heltborg Borgerforening is providing refreshments and Thy Folkemusik is providing the music. There will be no exhibitions at the museum during the event.

Price: DKK 150. - DKK 125 for members of Thy Folkemusik.

Location: Heltborg Museum, Skårhøjvej 15, 7760 Hurup Thy
