Hanstholm Town Park
To mark the special exhibition LÆ – Thy’s Trees, we’re going on a forest hike to experience the trees and forests we have today up close.
Hanstholm is one of the country’s windiest towns, but fortunately, the town is shielded to the west and north by a belt of forest known as Hanstholm Byplantage. As the name suggests, the forest did not grow on its own, but required a dedicated and intensive effort.
Starting in 1950, a large-scale reforestation project was launched to provide the town with shelter, erase the traces of the German occupation, and secure jobs for the declining town.
Meeting place: The parking lot at Hanstholm Lighthouse, Tårnvej 7, Hanstholm
Price: Free of charge
