The museum area

Take time for a walk in the unique open-air museum around the museum bunker. The area is the western part of the German 38 cm battery and covers some 100.000 m2.

During the war the area was a bare and rough landscape dominated by dunes.

In the early fifties the State carried out planting with pine. The purpose was to give shelter to Hanstholm from the rough climate of the west coast. The efforts bore fruit so that you today can enjoy a beautiful and varied wood in the dunes.

You have also the opportunity to visit some of the various bunkers which have been digged up in this part of the battery. Remember your torch!
